Language The official language of the convention is English.
Insurance The convention organizers cannot accept liability for personal injuries sustained, or for loss or damage of property belonging to convention participants (or their accompanying persons), either during, or as a result of the convention .
Electricity Electrical equipment in Israel is 220 volt A.C., single phase, 50 cycles. Some appliances may require a plug adapter that can be purchased locally.
Smoking Smoking is prohibited in public buildings, restaurants, cafés etc. in Israel.
ATM Most ATMs accept all major credit cards such as Master Card, Visa, Diners, and American Express.
Climate The weather in Israel during May is very comfortable. The daytime temperatures average 27°C (80°F). Night time temperatures average 19°C (66°F).
Currency The currency in the State of Israel is the New Israel Shekel (NIS). We recommend using the local currency although most expenses in Israel may be paid with major credit cards. The current (April 2010) exchange rate is 1 US dollar = 3.7 NIS. Bank of Israel Website
Tipping 10% of your bill is a reasonable tip at restaurants. All hotel prices include a 15% service charge, so anything additional you wish to leave is totally voluntary, with the exception of bell boys and the concierge. It is not necessary to tip taxi cab drivers unless they carry luggage or parcels for you.
