The official language of the conference is English.

Visas
A visa to Israel is not necessary for participants from most countries, but we suggest that you ask your travel agent to check for you or look up the Ministry of Foreign Affairs web site*. For countries without diplomatic relations with Israel, please write or E-mail directly to the Conference Secretariat, no later than TWO MONTHS prior to the symposium, giving the following details: full name, date and place of birth, passport number, date and place of issue and expiration date, flight details (arrival date and flight number). The Secretariat will do its utmost to ensure that a visa will await you at the airport in Israel.

Letter of Invitation
Upon request, the Conference Secretariat will send a personal invitation to participants in the conference. Such an invitation is only meant to help participants raise travel funds or obtain a visa, and does not represent a commitment on the part of the organizers to provide any financial support.

Abstracts Submission:
Participants are invited at this time to submit abstracts for oral or poster presentations.
The deadline for submission is June 15, 2007.
Abstracts are to be submitted online through this web site.

Abstracts Guidelines:
Language: English.
Size: Single A4 page (up to 250 words in total).
Font: Times New Roman (12pt).
Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides of the page.
Title: Each word should begin with a capital letter except transition words.
Text: single spaced and justified to both sides of the page. 

Conference Proceedings:
1The conference proceedings will be published as a special issue of Philosophical Magazine.
The deadline for submission of contributions to the special issue is October 1, 2007 – two weeks before the conference.

Kuo Memorial Symposium
2We are deeply saddened by the passing away of Prof. Kehsin Kuo (1923 – 2006), one of the outstanding pillars of our community. To honor Prof. Kuo’s many contributions to quasicrystals, we shall hold a special session in his memory, devoted to the role of electron microscopy in quasicrystal research. Speakers at the Kuo Memorial Symposium are: Prof. K. Urban, Prof. Z. Zheng, and Prof. E. Abe.

 

 

Young Scientist Fellowships:
3We are happy to offer fellowships, of $400 each, sponsored by the International Union of Crystallography, to 10 young scientists to assist them in attending the conference. The application deadline for these fellowships is July 1, 2007. Click here for details.

 

 J. Phys. D Awards for Best Student Presentation:
4Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics is happy to sponsor awards for the best student presentation at the conference. The awards will be presented at a special ceremony during the closing session. Click here for details.

 

Quasicrystal Jubilee Slide-Show:
We are assembling a slide-show of photos and images, representing a quarter of a century of research, personal interaction, and scientific collaboration on quasicrystals. Please E-mail the Conference Secretariat (debi@congress.co.il) any old and new experimental images, theoretical images, conference photos, colleagues posing in their labs, amusing photos from conference tours, etc. The slide-show will be displayed at the conference, and made available to all participants after the conference.

Poster Preparations
Poster size: 90cm wide x 170cm tall (35" x 67").
Posters should be concise, attractive, and readily accessible to the viewer (writing should be legible at a distance of 1.5m).

Climate and Clothing:
In October, which is fall, the daytime temperature average in Tel-Aviv is 27°C (80°F).
Night time temperatures average 19°C (66°F).
Clothing is informal for all occasions.

Electricity
Electrical equipment in Israel is 220 volt A.C., single phase, 50 cycles. Some appliances require an adapter for the plug that can be purchased locally.
